10/4/2010

The professionals who specify rebar today got a new online tool to learn about the latest corrosion-resistant rebar and engage with colleagues - www.specifyzbar.com.

ZBAR, a division of Gerdau Ameristeel, is a revolutionary corrosion-resistant rebar (CRR) with a unique dual-layer process that withstands the elements and endures the test of time. With the launch today of its new website at http://www.specifyzbar.com, ZBAR will deliver timely information about its product and offer opportunities to connect with product specifiers.

“ZBAR utilizes proven technologies, is readily available, and the most economical high-performance reinforcing steel product on the market,” said Wes Miller, division manager for ZBAR. “Our new site will help us better inform engineers and other product specifiers about the benefits of specifying ZBAR.”

The new site includes detailed product information and a value proposition calculator to help product specifiers determine the life-cycle cost benefit of ZBAR to their construction projects. Visitors who sign up for the MyZBAR section of the site will also receive advance notification of upcoming educational webinars.

Successfully tested per ASTM A944 and compliant with ASTM A1055, ZBAR combines A615/A706 reinforcing steel bars with a powerful corrosion prevention system. This system consists of an inner metalized zinc layer that provides cathodic protection and an outer polymer membrane that serves to maintain anode to steel continuity during fabrication, shipment, installation and concrete curing.

ZBAR is sustainable and eco-friendly, thus avoiding environmental and other issues associated with galvanized rebar.
