Florida DOT Begins Monitoring Phase of ZBAR Field Testing

The Florida Department of Transportation materials lab in Gainesville recently installed a series of concrete-reinforced steel ASTM A1055-10 field test panels on the Courtney Campbell Bridge in Tampa Bay. The panels will compare ZBAR performance to 316 stainless steel reinforcement in the tidal zone, where corrosion usually initiates.

The test panels are being electronically monitored and visually examined for evidence of any corrosion. To view pictures of the construction process, in-service placement and initial monitoring by Florida DOT, visit http://specifyzbar.com/florida_dot_expands_zbar

The field testing is a second phase of a multi-year research study by the Florida DOT and the University of South Florida, who have been testing ZBAR performance under laboratory conditions.
