ZBAR Compliant with Strengthened ASTM Specification
At their fall 2010 meeting, ASTM approved revisions to ASTM A 1055 (Standard Specification for Zinc and Epoxy Dual-Coated Steel Reinforcing Bars), and ZBAR is compliant.
The update, known as ASTM A 1055-10, strengthens the specification and provides additional benefit to product specifiers and end users.

Florida DOT Expands ZBAR Corrosion Study with Field Testing
The Florida Department of Transportation materials lab in Gainesville recently installed a series of concrete-reinforced steel test panels on the Courtney Campbell Bridge in Tampa Bay. The panels will compare ZBAR performance to 316 stainless steel reinforcement in the tidal zone, where corrosion usually initiates.
The test panels will be monitored electronically and visually examined for evidence of any corrosion over a two-year period. To view pictures of the construction process and in service placement, visit http://specifyzbar.com/florida_dot_expands_zbar_corrosion_study_with_field_testing.aspx.
The field testing is a second phase of a multi-year research study by the Florida DOT and the University of South Florida, who have been testing ZBAR performance under laboratory conditions.

See ZBAR in Use
ZBAR has been used by commercial builders, state departments of transportation (DOTs), the military and others to economically reinforce concrete structures for an estimated 100-year design life. ZBAR is maintenance-free and comparable to stainless steel... at a fraction of the cost.

About ZBAR
ZBAR is a premium, high-performance reinforcing steel product that is ideal for use in harsh environments with high risk for corrosion, such as marine applications or where deicing salts are used.
Applications for ZBAR can include:
- Transportation infrastructure (bridges, roadways)
- Military infrastructure (naval piers, buildings, levees)
- Commercial construction (hotels, condominiums, parking garages)
- Institutional construction (universities, hospitals, transit stations)
- Public facilities (museums, theme parks)
- Other (seawalls, spillways, pre-cast concrete products)
